Yamhill County Affordable Housing Corporation (YCAHC)
Summary
The Yamhill County Affordable Housing Corporation (YCAHC) was formed in 2001 for the following purpose:
To promote homeownership for low and moderate income citizens by developing, purchasing, selling, conserving and rehabilitating housing located in Yamhill County. This includes activities such as housing/homeownership counseling, energy conservation, safe housing programs, and low-income housing repair.
YCAHC operates a revolving loan fund of over $3 million to provide housing rehabilitation loans to low/moderate income homeowners. Loans of up to $25,000 are provided at either zero percent or 2 percent interest rates to rehabilitate homes. Priority is given to projects that provide for safety and good health. Typical work includes such things as new roofs, new windows, new siding, new electrical wiring, new heating systems, etc.
Since its inception, YCAHC has focused exclusively on housing rehabilitation. However, it recently expanded its scope with a focus on promoting homeownership. This program will include homeownership counseling, finding funding sources available to assist with purchasing a home, and the coordination of activities with realtors, lenders, developers and others involved with the purchase of affordable homes.
In addition, YCAHC has opened a Regional Housing Center to provide a one-stop information center for all affordable housing issues. The Center staff will help find answers to all affordable housing questions and refer customers to the appropriate business or agency best suited to meet their needs. The Center is located at 135 NE Dunn Place along Highway 18 in McMinnville.
