Housing Choice Voucher Program (Section 8)

Our rental assistance program is officially called the "Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program", but is also known as Section 8.  This program assists over 1,600 families in Yamhill County.  The income limit for this program is 50% area median income.

The HCV Program (Section 8) allows eligible families to find their own rental unit in the private housing market. The family pays a portion of the rent and utilities (equal to around 30 percent of their adjusted monthly income), and the Housing Authority pays the rest. Both our payments and the tenants are made directly to the landlord. We pay our portion of the rent as long as the tenant lives in the unit and is program eligible, and the remainder of the tenancy is between the landlord and the tenant.

The Housing Authority has a contract with HUD, which provides funding for the program. The HCV program is HUD's largest housing program nationwide.

Currently we are accepting applications for Stratus Village Project Based Vouchers. The Housing Choice Voucher and Deskins Commons Project Based Voucher wait lists are currently closed.
